Making your own rules...

If you "make rules" and are the only one following them, are they still rules, or are they "only" a behavioral pattern? Because in the end, if you are the only one behaving that way ​then it can't really be a rule, because a rule has to be an accepted ​principle or ​instruction. ;D

Still, the concept of breaking out of a pattern is always interesting.
